A: Where it shows your vitals aka Health, Mana, Energy. At that point start pushing through the shopkeepers to the south or go up the ramp to kill the masters and grandmasters. When it isn't, it's a nice place for a change of pace, but I think exp is better elsewhere. Also, being a class like Paladin can make leveling in some places way faster. There are three nameds you can kill here for a good variety of loot. As an alternative around 73, you can kill the pixies around the guild hall port in. You can stay here until you reach level 77. and barrel your way to the second city. Burn AE (On some): This stance causes your mercenary to focus primarily on damage with AE spells, Always assisting the main assist, Passive: Your merc will not attack anything. I also feel that depending on which set of hot zones is available at the moment, there are faster places to level through certain levels. Get invisibility on a character who can rez or has a healer merc at least. Loping Plains(75-80)(PoK>Steamfont Mountains>Loping Plains) - At 75 come here and head around past Bloodmoon Keep. The drachnid are probably the lowest level mobs in the zone, but it gets hard to pull singles and they have a lot of HP. And no, fire pet is not the best dps pet in classic, it's water (and no, it's nuke is not stronger than the water pet's one . They complete heal and can do it 7 or 8 times in a row. Turn in the quest as you complete it. Really good guide. Gaesigs and Heligs on the water side come to mind on this. They aren't that hard and only require a group to do, below is a table of the lines you have to complete and the mercenary tier they unlock. You will need an invis item or supply of Cloudy Potions though as there are a lot of living creatures between you and the undead section of the zone. The same nameds you can get from the lake are here, though I believe a named giant is the most common one. A: Your merc will start costing you 2g every 15 minutes at level 14. House of Thule, Lower Floors(80-85 W/GEAR IF SOLO OR BOX)(PoK>Feerott, the Dream>House of Thule) - The courtyard used to be one of the best grinding spots in the game. There are two main camps that youll use. It's called No Heroism Without Fear and begins at Investigator Drolmer. The idea to help in grinding to where the other players are (level-wise) is to add two additional accounts and create a 3 box team. So max out at lvl 82 and grind all your final AAs here. The key zone for AFK leveling and AA grinding in the 65 to 80 level range is Wall of Slaughter. If you went to another zone first and are coming here after 55, then just zone in by dropping into the big hole and coming up at the very back of the zone. These Mercenaries are much more weak than a Journeyman Mercenary however I guess one plus is they cost a lot less every 15 minutes! This zone is very confusing to get into from the "front door", but if you're coming here at 48 then it's the best place to go. Balanced: This stance is exactly how it sounds. Most of those pulls will be a pair of light blue conscript mobs. The final two zones drop Glowing Reis, which gives you good armor from 85-90. The final reward is Journeyman Rank 5 mercenaries. When you zone in, the area you are in has mobs level 88-91ish. I just dislike this place in total. Currently, most returning players are forced to molo (solo with a merc) from level 1 to 80+. You might not even need to spend 10 dollars, since DBG gives you 500 Daybreak Cash a month. The mobs have varying levels of HP, but don't hit that hard in comparison to even other TDS content. South of the citadel are the drachnid tunnels. You'll usually be fine pulling 1 or 2 Whites or above, any more and the merc has a small chance of running. NOTE: Doing the progression for Call of the Forsaken and The Broken Mirror will net you some incredible rewards. Start off near the entrance, then push up to the area around the house. The higher the mercenaries confidence level the less chance he has of running away. At 8-9 go to the last cave that is next to the little paddle thing on the lake and kill bears. There are better places to go. If you're a new player then you'll be able to find a Mercenary Liaison right in Cresent Reach (granted if you Start there). You will be murdering said spiders and slimes and other animals. Killing mass numbers of light blue mobs is particularly easy with this merc setup and a player toon. If you still need to eat up more time, head back to ETWK via the black portal and go to the camp where you buy gear. Very easy to set up a spot and pull away on the gorillas and birds. You can push to 86-87 here by going into the west corridors, but the exp falls off a cliff at 83. Once inside, just follow your map and keep heading back until mobs start getting close to your level. There are a few provided for you by the game, but the vast majority of the world is gonna be uncharted and you will need reliable maps. There is a castle structure there. At first, just wait. It's essentially a big hole in the ground, but the mobs have low HP and die fast. This place is almost nothing but undead. The exp is ludicrously fast thanks to low HP mobs and repeatable quests. With an 85 druid can pl 20-65 in about 6 hours with the druid un-grouped and DS'ing whilst PL'd toon does at least of one point of dmg. This zone is sometimes a hotzone. Changing the email on the account seems to get it 'unstuck' and future attempts appear to work. Don't know how popular that still is, but it's still not hard to get anything done. The merc trio can easily handle content to level 80 with you solidly playing your main toon (and dragging along the other two characters). Air sucks for dps and tanking in classic, can be useful in groups against casters, in Lower Guk for example. There are also a ton of really good twink weapons to be had here, which can sell for tons of plat depending on what server you're on. . Try and kill at least one Captain of the Guard. What i mean is if you do Field of Scale, you'll have the rank IV merc, not the III or II. ALTERNATIVES: Hills of Shade(78-85)(PoK>Steamfont Mnts>Loping Plains>Hills of Shade) - This place is heaven for paladins and might be faster for them than Ashengate. Kill lots of rotdogs and snakes. Once level 4-5, go over the bridge to the north and kill young pumas, bears, and more drakes. Neriak Fourth Gate (accessed off Neriak Third Gate or from ETWK if you've done attunement) - One of my favorite zones for grinding these levels out. What that means is he just won't do anything. Tank Mercs can kill a red con in about 2-3 minutes (If its REALLY red to you). You do have to be careful if Hardcore Heritage is going on cause this zone could be boosted up into the 70s-80s range if the event is ongoing. The Call of the Forsaken expansion introduced mercenary equipment, gear you can put on your mercenary . So make this the exception to my disdain of HA leveling. That area is considered Tier 1 for the expansion. Recently, the daily adventures have been moved to Plane of Knowledge and are received from Clayton Teek. You also must be out of combat. Velkator's Laboratory (45-55)(PoK>Great Divide>Velk's) - This place has grown on me a lot. Not game breaking to say the least.
